Reid Park Re-Development: Community Update Open House
When: Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm
Where: Hintonburg Community Centre, Wellington Room.
Together with City staff, Councillor Leiper is hosting an open house for the community to review the up-coming work that is set to occur in Reid Park this summer. As you may recall, Councillor Leiper hosted a consultation with the community to discuss how you would like to see a re-developed Reid Park. The final plan has been determined through the consultation process, with staff considerations, and the work will be commencing this summer. A big component to the park’s re-development is the environmental remediation. City staff have provided am Environmental Risk Management Program that you can read on Jeff’s blog:

City staff will be on hand on May 10 to field any further questions about the remediation work you may have. They will also discuss up-coming timelines and field any questions regarding potential construction impacts.
If you are unable to make the meeting but still have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jeff’s office directly at [email protected]

Fall 2016 - Reid Park - Construction starts in 2017
A heads up that the sole bid for demolition work appeared very inflated so the city has decided not to have the demo work done this fall. Instead, the tender for the 2017 construction will include the demolition work. It's expected that the cost will be much reduced using this approach.
We don't think this will change the completion date very much..and if it saves money to be used elsewhere, we are all for it!!

Reid Park Update
Access to Gas lines and upcoming improved Ontario Building Code accessibility requirements resulted in the need to tweak the Reid Park Phase 1 development plans and delay the construction start to 2015.
Drawings are being reworked and being reviewed with the community prior to them being put out to tender. Look for more information from our councillor at our upcoming General Meeting.

Fall 2014 - Reid Park Update
As you may know, Reid Park is about to undergo some major revitalization (see http://ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/public-consultations/parks-and-recreation-public-consultations/reid-park) including the construction of a new 3,000 sq feet Community Building (aka Fieldhouse). Work on the fieldhouse was to begin this summer but due to unforeseen construction complications, the start of construction will be delayed until early September. There is an upside though, this means the wading pool WILL open this summer. The city is scrambling to put everything in place and are hoping to open the pool on July 2nd. Happy summer!
Reid Park Redevelopment Plans
On June 25th, 2013, a public meeting was held to present and obtain feedback on proposed redevelopment concept plans for Reid Park. Two concept options were presented to illustrate alternative layouts for new and existing recreation facilities, parking, pathways and landscaping.
Over 40 members of the community attended the meeting and provided valuable comments on the concept plan options, providing direction to the City for the preparation of a final redevelopment plan for Reid Park. Below are the initial Concept Plans. For information, click here.
